3G Mobile Phones – Latest Dose Of Mobile Technology

The mobile market has witnessed rapid technological advancements in the past couple of years. With the advent of each year, mobile phones are donning new mantles. The latest talk of the town is a 3G mobile phone. Though this technology is limited to few countries, the phenomenon is catching up the fever to be adapted and integrated globally.

3G, short form of third generation mobile telephone technology, is based on GSM standard. Unlike its predecessors, it uses a different frequency band to deliver data, in an much improved and faster rate. In a 3G mobile phone, the contents can be send through calls, messaging and internet based content. Which means, the users have superior voice quality, enhanced roaming capabilities and broadband data transmission rates of 2mbps (megabits per second).

Video calling is often termed as the “ killer application” of a 3G mobile phone. But this amounts to a small part, as music downloads have taken the precedence. Application in a 3G mobile phones includes video phone calls, video message bank, internet and email, interactive gaming, and media streaming like news, weather and dedicated TV shows.
