Spice D88 Mobile Phone

April 12th, 2010

Spice D 88 is India’s first phone with dual network. Now enjoy the power of two mobiles in this single power-packed gadget called the Spice D88. Though not an extremely popular brand when compared to some others, this mobile too exhibits a few benefits.

Key Features

It features both GSM and CDMA network which gives the convenience of two numbers in the same phone. It allows you to switch between the two phones whenever you want to. It lets you make and receive calls and messages from any SIM card. It features a decent 1.3 mega pixel camera and 262k color screen. The device does not have any inbuilt memory but comes with a 1 GB micro SD card.

People maybe wonder about, how to use Spice 88 which has dual networks in it. If at a time, you select both the networks, then the device will ask you which network you prefer to use. All you should to do is select one, either GSM or CDMA, and the call will be connected to your preferred network. Even if you are busy on your CDMA network and there is a call on your GSM connection you can receive the new call, and you can place previous one in call waiting mode, and then swap between the calls at any time you wish. But this is not as easy at it sounds. There are some freezing issues while transferring calls and you also lose out on both calls. It will take time till Spice deals with this issue completely.

Entertainment Features

Spice D88 Mobile phone has the normal features like call waiting options, phone book memory, call register and lot of ring tones to choose from. Spice 88 has many preloaded games and accessories like alarm clock and calculator to choose from. The best part is that this Spice D88 comes with multimedia features like a camera and music player. But connectivity options are limited to USB.

Conclusion

The design looks and feels good. The user interface may take some time to get used to. Overall Spice D88 is a value for money feature packed phone. The battery life of the device is not impressive, but an additional battery is included in the package. Spice D88 is a good phone to buy as it gives a lot of options to choose from and has a dual network feature, which is one its kind.

Samsung G600 – A Picture of Real Beauty

March 13th, 2010

Samsung has released several phones in the last year. The one that really caught my attention was the Samsung G600. So what is special about this mobile phone? Why did it catch me eye?

I think what struck me as amazing about the cell phone was its decent 5 mega pixel camera that it offers. I tried my hand at one and took a few images. The camera was super clear. I also managed to take a few video clips and was very satisfied with the cameras performance. I love phones that offer the sliding option and the Samsung G600 sports a very smooth sliding mechanism. When answering a call, you slide the phone up and to disconnect you slide it down. You have the option to change the settings in the “slide menu”. . The keys are soft and easy to use. The keys are wide and hence easy to use and navigation on the phone is fairly simple. The volume of the cell phone is surprisingly not very loud.

The cell phone also offers a web browser that allows you to surf the net. It also has a built in radio as well as a music player. The FM basically does its job. The music player provides several options like recently played, last played, most played, artists, genres, albums, composers, podcasts and playlists. It also offers shuffle, repeat, sound effects, modes, animation and other settings. You can either use the loudspeaker or earphones or the Bluetooth headset. The phone gives you a 1 GB microSD memory card as well. It is Bluetooth enabled. The mobile phone has a voice recorder but does not offer voice dialing.

To sum it up:

The Samsung G600 is a good buy. The cell phone is good and offers some fantastic features. If you love camera phones, it’s safe to say that you will love this phone. If Samsung created this phone to beat its competition at camera phones, this phone is major success!

A Review Of The CECT P168 Plus Quadband – The New Quad Band Version Of the iClone

March 9th, 2010

Well, the wait is finally over. The Quad Band version of the iClone has finally arrived. Like the previous iClone model, this phone can do virtually anything you need it to. It looks and functions amazingly similar to the iPhone, while allowing you to use any provider you chose. You aren’t forced to go with AT&T with this phone. With it’s touch screen, you can surf the web, download and listen to music, record and play video, etc. This phone also has a removable battery (unlike the iPhone) and has TWO sim slots allowing you to basically have a phone for business and leisure.

Here is how the new version quadband CECT P 168 Plus compares to the old version:

The major upgrade is obviously that it is quadband, which makes it literally plug and play. It works with any network worldwide. (GSM GPRS 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz). They have also: upgraded the Bluetooth features; upgraded the firmware; added a slide unlock (which means anyone can unlock this phone in one swipe); added a webcam; and upgraded the phone with surround sound. (Complete list of specs below).

The touch screen on the quadband version feels a bit firmer (and more like glass) than the original. The cost of this model if very competitive, coming in between $100 and $150.

The videos floating around for this phone (link at the end of the article) can really demonstrate what this phone can do. Here are a list of the features:
